CBS – 60 Minutes – Battle over history – The Armenian Genocide

http://www.tv.com/video/J6fOyBGDLXa21b4uHYKpcxyVQScKWw6s/battle-over-history?o=cbs#

Video shown recently on CBS channel. Turkey surly starts protesting, well let them do. Actually they’d better accept the real way of things, come to peace with their history and start watching the Armenian Genocide in its legal aspects, rather than put everything to historians and with this try to block the dissemination of the truth. As Karen Vrtanesyan writes in his blog:

There will be lots of references to the CBS’s «Battle Over History – 60 Minutes» video, which speaks about the Armenian genocide. I don’t share the excitement of fellow Armenians, because the documentary has a serious flow: our battle isn’t «over the history», but over the future. Genocide is not a historical category, it is a legal category by definition.

Actually it’s the Turks who do their best to make everyone believe that «leaving the genocide to historians» is the only rational thing to do.

Turks would never invest so much effort and resources into the whole process of genocide denial if it was «just part of the history».

On March 4 Armenian Genocide Resolution will be put on voting in US Congress. Millions of supporters of the resolution, together with all international organizations working and investigating genocides around the world hope at last the time has come for justice to be recognized. Armenian Horizon TV will broadcast the discussion live at 6:45 A.M. Passific Time as well as we will be able to watch it online at http://horizonarmeniantv.com

I visited Levon Ter-Petrosyan protest on 1st of March. Lots of people, but there was no former fire in eyes of the protesters. In past people were not even letting speakers say a word, shouting various slogans all the time, and now even after Levon shouting “Fight, fight till the end”, people repeat it two times, not more and get silent again. Speaking to people in the square I was asked, do you believe anything will change and “these ones” will come to victory. I said: “No, I don’t believe”. The reply was the same: “Neither do we”. The only active mass was the youth, who do not clearly understand what to expect, simply learnt to shout and they do. Also about 10 extremely active women, who I think will be with anyone who is against the system.

Sumgait

22 years ago on this day Azeri Turks were slaughtering the Armenians for what they are Armenians, in Azerbaijan, city of Sumgait. For three days the police did not intervene. According to official statistics number of victims was about 30 and. The real figure had remained unknown. First compiled list of the dead included the names of about 60, but it disappeared from prosecutors office of Azerbaijan. Armenians began to compile a new list, which is presented today as a number victims. While the three city morgues received more than 100 corpses. Breaking into Maternal House Turks were throwing Armenian babies outside through the window, and their number also was not included in the list too. Three days later, only the security forces stopped the slaughter. As far as I know no one Azerbaijani not punished.

Rest in peace all innocent victims of Azeri Turkish aggression.

Armenian citizen of Sumgait burnt alive by Azerbaijani Turks in 1988

The position of official Azerbaijan looks very similar to position of those who deny Holocaust, who claim Holocaust was organized by the Jews, Azerbaijani officials claim Sumgait genocide was organized by Armenians. They found out that one of the murderers in Sumgait had Armenian surname of his step-father and use this to call Armenians organized mass-slaughter of Armenians in Sumgait. While a huge number of facts, testimony of witnesses claim, the nationalist movement of Azerbaijan together with officials from higher instances of AzSSR prepared and implemented a massacre of Armenians. No police interfered the slaughter for several day, no military troops were entered the city for three days from 27 to 29 February 1988.

Armenia expects UN support in development of external ways of communication for Armenia

Armenia expects UN support in development of external ways of communication for Armenia, claims Armenian Deputy FA Minister Gegham Gharibjanyan meeting Cheick Sidi Diarra, Deputy Secretary General of UN and general representative of countries not having access to sea. The parts agreed that such countries must have free access to sea, while separate commercial projects usually put borders in the area blocking projects already developed, also in cooperation with the UN. Such activity should not get the support of international organizations including the UN, claims Gegham Gharibjanyan.

The first step for Artsakh problem final solution is recognition of Artsakh (Karabakh) independence

The first step for Artsakh problem final solution is recognition of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic independence, says Aram Sargsyan, Armenian Democratic Party leader. He also expresses his surprise concerning claims of various political figures’, such as Turkish president Abdullah Gull about some agreements over passing of some abstract areas from under control of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic to Azerbaijan.

He also claims Matthew Bryza’s statements, that the principal position of the USA in final solution of Artsakh problem is territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, frivolous. Aram Sargsyan claims, a diplomat who expresses sorry for being misunderstood so regularly, which happens to Mr. Bryza so usually, cannot be taken seriously.
